Responsible budgeting & taxpayer accountability
County government directly impacts property taxes and how efficiently services are delivered. I advocate for detailed, transparent budget discussions, line-by-line review, and performance-based budgeting to clearly show where taxpayer dollars are going. We need multi-year financial planning to avoid sudden tax increases or emergency cuts, and simplified budget summaries so residents can easily understand county spending without needing a finance degree. Residents deserve a county government that lives within its means while still delivering essential services, ensuring sustainability for future generations.
Public safety & emergency services
Strong communities depend on safe neighborhoods and well-supported emergency services. I will work to support recruitment and retention for local fire departments, EMS, and law enforcement, and prioritize strategic funding for equipment and training. Strengthening interdepartmental coordination and encouraging partnerships for mental health and crisis response are vital to ensure appropriate response options for non-violent crises. When families feel safe and emergency responders are supported, communities thrive and preparedness is improved.
Civic engagement & trust in local government
Local government works best when people feel heard and informed. I champion greater transparency by promoting accessible meeting information, clear explanations of decisions, and consistent public updates. Stronger community outreach through listening sessions and expanding youth civic involvement in public service roles, boards, and volunteer positions are also key. We need professional, respectful leadership that sets a tone of collaboration rather than division. Trust isn’t automatic — it’s earned. When residents feel informed and heard, participation increases and local government works better for everyone.
